My wonderful Lops and Dwarfs! Here at Honeysuckle Rabbitry, located in the beautiful state of Maine, we breed high quality Mini Lop and Netherland Dwarf rabbits. We started out only breeding Mini Lops but I have always liked Netherland Dwarfs and wanted to raise them as well so finally gave in.Our main focuses are on type, personality and color. Our aim is to have great stock that matches the description of the ARBA Standard of Perfection as much as possible in a wide variety of rich colors.My focus with Mini Lops is going to be a few years in the making but I want to have a nice orange and red line, both solids and broken and I will dabble a little with tri colors and torts however they are not my passion. I love tris but I feel that to work with tri's as my main project before I perfect the oranges is like putting the cart before the horse so to say. To get a good line of oranges you need to perfect your rufus modifiers, and then when you add tris to the mix you may possibly need to perfect the spotting modifiers, the intensity of the black and chocolate, and if you add blues and lilac you will need to "stack" your modifiers even higher on your orange to counter balance the dilution gene so you don't get pasty looking tris. I will also be breeding all chins out of my genes. I very loosely linebreed at the moment but I'm starting to linebreed a little more as I work out the flaws in my herd and get better stock. I really want a strong orange line that can compete against all the other colors on the show table and I'm well on my way with my current stock. Just a matter of time and breeding wisely.My main focus with dwarfs will be type and I will be selectively linebreeding.
